Yangu Beauty Skincare Review

Monday, September 4, 2017
Yangu Beauty is a skin care line specifically created to enhance skin health and beauty for women of color. I received the Gel To Milk Cleanser and Finishing Night Cream. I've tested out the products twice before filming my review. Just a quick disclaimer; this review is not sponsored and I've only included my honest opinion on the two products. Check out what I have to say on Yangu Beauty.

Open To Thrive

Sunday, July 23, 2017

Who I am now is a shock to who I used to be. I wish I was always as care free as I am now; it certainly would have made my middle and high school experience a lot easier. I've gotten stronger and have lost interest in others' opinions of me.

I'm not the thickest, but I'm also not the slimmest. I've always been concerned about showing too much skin. I was insecure about my body and nervous about the message I'd be hinting. But who cares? I'm freeing myself of my damaging mental barriers. ph: @flaschsimz

A Tee To Favorites

Thursday, June 29, 2017
While enjoying my short stay in Long Beach, California, I wandered 2nd Street. The strip was packed with cute boutiques and interesting restaurants. I already admired the strip but once I found Buffalo Exchange thrift shop, I deemed 2nd Street of Long Beach a "Must Come Back" spot.
Among my fabulous finds is this not-so-thin distressed t-shirt from Zara's Basic Collection. Simple pieces with a touch of unique detail always catch my eye. I paired the new favorite tee with green shorts. To add some drama (cause I wouldn't be me if I didn't), I slipped my feet into fish net socks before my Steve Madden sandals.

A Little Sexy Never Hurt Nobody

Saturday, April 29, 2017
Strutting New York in the sexiest pair of heels in your closet feels amazing to every woman. Thigh high boots are in and I don't see them playing out. They are my go-to; the perfect match for a basic outfit to spruce it up and warp it into an "ISSA LOOK!" look. Check it out.

Hanahana Beauty Shea Body Butter + Shea Balm Review

Sunday, April 9, 2017
Shea Body Butter by Hanahana Beauty has been my skin savior for the past week. From its whipped texture to the way it melts in between your hands, I can't get enough of it. Packed with other butters and oils [such as cocoa butter, mango butter, avocado oil, hemp oil, jojoba oil and more], it keeps my skin moisturized twenty-four/seven. Dry skin is a big issue for any flight attendant so I'm glad I got my hands on Hanahana Beauty. Judging by its natural butters and oils, I'm sure it can be used in your hair as well. I will have to test for those results.

Also, the Hanahana Beauty Shea Balm is love. I suffer from dry lips often, especially during cold weather. I appreciate the soft, tender feel the Shea Balm leaves my lips feeling. It's ingredients range from Honey and Beeswax to cocoa powder and jojoba oil. This balm is not for eating although I can't help but lick my lips from time to time.

I recommend that you try these Hanahana Beauty products. I'm sure you'd love them as much as I do. They also have a Shea Exfoliating Bar; which I've got to try soon!

Lead In A Good Fit

Friday, March 10, 2017
I can't speak for others but a good fit certainly spikes confidence to conquer the world in a day's time. This classic look gave off "leading lady" and sensual vibes. The brown, green, and white color scheme gave me heart eyes. Love this bodysuit given to me as a birthday gift by my best friend. A little nipple never hurt nobody; *wink*. For its first time out, I paired it with a leather high-waist shorts and a light weight duster jacket that I never ever zip up. I found the shorts in a Brooklyn thrift shop named L-Train; so glad I stopped by. Strappy heels, A.K.A. my weakness, made its second debut. Can't believe I've had these Lola Shoetique beauties hiding in my closet for so long.

Over all in Overalls X DMNT

Friday, March 3, 2017
Collaborated with DMNT with this latest look. As you may have noticed, I'm all about being cute and comfy. I received the DMNT sweater and instantly fell in love. I'm not positive what the acronym, DMNT, stands for but the sweater is certainly a good look. Also, its very comfortable against the skin and receives many compliments. I paired the DMNT sweater with distressed jean overalls and heeled boots. Read more for outfit details.

I Hit A Wall... ouch.

Tuesday, January 31, 2017
"I can admit.. I've been depressed. I hit a wall... ouch." lyrics by Isaiah Rashad. "Dressed Like Rappers" stays on repeat on a day I need to know that I should count my blessings. I've had more than usual days in which I could not find the root of my melancholy attitude. Anxiety plagued me. In addition to that, our new president has added more thunderous clouds over my head. My heart aches for my people and anyone effected by his selfishness and idiocy. I'm not stating this to vent, but to let you know.. make things different. I know that I am not the only one who feels this way. I've grown tired of doubting myself; we should believe that we can make a difference in our lives and others' despite the obstacles we may face. A prayer/meditation per day keeps the demons away long enough for you to do right by you.

While in Los Angeles, California, I had the chance to see an old friend. It was so great to see him; haven't seen him since five years ago in college. He's become a very talented photographer since then; of course we had to get some shots in. Mike Magnum snapped! Check out all the photos. Which is your favorite?

Story of the Traveling Skirt

From Williamsburg's Beacon's Closet, a beautiful denim pencil skirt with a tie-dye finish followed me home. I fell for the high waisted, fitted silhouette. For its second time covering these thick thighs (lol), I paired it with a basic American Apparel crop top on my way to shoot with an old friend and very talented photographer. The funny thing about this skirt is... (I won't go into details due to certain fucked up circumstances..) but long story short: this skirt was not suppose to be at Beacon's Closet. An old acquaintance reached out to me once she saw these photos via Instagram. Turns out, her clothes were stolen, including this exact skirt; my photos were the proof she needed and the exact person who did it. This skirt has had its own adventure. It's in good hands now.
